Indonesia's captain Ni Nanda Sakarini did put up a fight. She scored 39 (52) in what can be best described as a dutiful and resolute manner. The 5th wicket partnership between her and Desi Wulandari was like a dam that prevented the team from being swept away. Alas, once that was broken, the floodgates opened. Indonesia lost their last 6 wickets for 16 runs in 23 balls. Vaishnave Mahesh, Esha Oza and Heena Hotchandani picked 2 wickets each, while Suraksha Kotte ended with a 3fer. 

Tonight was largely a one-sided affair. Right from the coin-flip, everything went in the favour of the hosts. They invited the opposition to bat first and then, Suraksha Kotte struck with twice in the first two legal balls of the match to peg them back.

10:35 PM IST, 9:05 PM local time: UAE Women register an emphatic victory — their first of the Women's Asia Cup 2026. They win by 6 wickets with 41 balls to spare. This also marks the end of Indonesia Women's campaign. They impressed in patches on what was their debut appearance at this stage. While they could not win any games, they have surely exhibited that they have the ingredients to become a solid team in the future. We hope that the learnings from this competition will help them grow and become better.

[On the experience of playing in this competition] We are grateful to be here and to be playing in these facilities and in this stadium. We played against higher ranking team. We are proud of that.

[What do they want to learn as a team going ahead] I hope to see better facilities in Indonesia."

Esha Oza (UAE Women captain and Player of the Match): "(Her thoughts on the match) I think it was a good game. Especially after last game (against Sri Lanka), it was good to get these two points on the board.

(On the decision made at the toss) We saw in last 2 games too. Bowling first, there was a bit for the bowlers. We wanted to have a score in mind when we came out to bat. So, we decided to chase. 

(Were they thinking about net run rate?) 2 points on the board was the intention. But during the drinks break, we knew only few runs were left. So we tried to get them as quickly as possible. 

(Who is she supporting in the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh game?) Routing for good cricket. But I would be a bit biased towards Sri Lanka. Obviously, if they win then our game against Bangladesh becomes a virtual quarterfinal. 

Huge shoutout to Indonesia. I think the energy and passion they showed was amazing. Thanks to the ACC for having so many teams in this tournament."

That draws the curtains on Indonesia's heartening debut campaign at the Women's Asia Cup 2026. They might not have been able to win a match, but displayed plenty of ingredients — especially in their bowling and fielding — that augur for a bright future.

Meanwhile, with this big win, UAE have not only got themselves 2 points, but also corrected their net run rate somewhat. However, it still gives a negative reading. Hence, the result of the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka game matters to them. A Sri Lanka win will put NRR out of the equation, making their final group stage fixture a straight shootout. They could still qualify even if Bangladesh beats SL, but that will be a tricky path. 

However, tomorrow, all eyes will turn to what has been the most hyped game of this tournament. India Women vs Pakistan Women. It might be a lopsided rivalry on paper, but you know when these two teams clash, conversations rarely limit to just cricketing records.
