A hat-trick to end the game from Nisar Ahmad as Lahore Blues register their first win in the Super 8 stage with a comprehensive 64-run win over Rawalpindi Region. They have outplayed their opponents in all faces of the game and the Blues deserve this win in the end.
Chasing 167 for another win, Rawalpindi Region never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals. The top 3 were blown away early. Haider Ali scored 23 off 14 balls while Mubasir Khan scored 24 off 26 balls. Mohammad Nawaz scored 15 off 19 balls while Raza Ul Mustafa scored an unbeaten 14* off 18 balls. The rest were in single digits as they were bowled out for 102 in the 18th over.
The star of the show for Lahore Blues was Nisar Ahmad as he got a hat-trick and fifer to end with figures of 5/5 in 2.4 overs. Usman Qadir bowled a miserly spell of 2/19 in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Umaid Asif and Kashif Bhatti. They did drop a few catches and that's the area they need to work on. Other than that, they were clinical today.
Earlier in the game, Lahore Blues were put into bat first by Rawalpindi Region. The Blues started well with the bat with Umar Siddiq scoring 37 off 23 balls. Imran Butt scored 39 off 29 balls. Later on skipper Hussain Talat scored an unbeaten 42* off 32 balls while Qasim Akram scored an unbeaten 40* off 31 balls. This meant the Blues ended with 166/3 in 20 overs.
Mehran Mumtaz picked up a couple of wickets for the Rawalpindi team and there was a run out as well. The rest went wicketless and it was an off day for Rawalpindi today.
