10:42 PM IST, Local Time: Kovai Kings bounced back to break their three-match losing streak and thrashed Trichy Grand Cholas by 116 runs to register a statement win in the final game of the Dindigul leg of TNPL 2026. They move a spot up the ladder on the points table but their net run-rate will take a massive boost with this performance.
J Suresh Kumar (Trichy Grand Cholas Captain): "[On opting to bowl first] The coaches and I myself felt that was the best decision at that time. This was the final game on this surface and it has been a good batting deck.
[On the learnings from this game] Simple, the bowlers need to execute their plans better. Even though they were picking wickets at regular intervals but they failed to contain the runs, plans could have been better.
[On the Chennai leg] Simple, we need to take one game at a time. There's a break, we will sit back and analyse what are the areas where we need to improve and come back stronger."

Sachin B (POTM): "[How he planned his innings after being asked to bat first?] Yeah, I just trusted my process and tried to continue the flow and rhythm that I had while batting in the middle. I just carried the momentum forward throughout my innings.
[Thoughts at the innings break] Yeah, 200 was a very good score. The pitch was a little sticky so we knew chasing wouldn't be that easy.

A one-sided affair brought an end to an entertaining leg in Dindigul in the ongoing edition of the TNPL. Kovai Kings proved to be too hot to handle for Trichy Grand Cholas. A 116-run win for the Shahrukh Khan-led Kings sees them move up to sixth place on the points table, while Trichy slip to fifth.
There will be a two-day break in the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2026 and then the action will resume from the iconic Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Kovai Kings will be in action on Tuesday now and they will face Chepauk Super Gillies.
