The Oval Invincibles have registered an emphatic win over the Manchester Originals by 7 wickets. They were struggling at one stage with the loss of some quick wickets. But the 67 run partnership between Scholfield and Kapp saw them through in the end.
The Oval Invincibles got off to a steady start as the pair of Winfield-Hill and Chamari Athapaththu mixed caution with aggression in the powerplay. They got 29 runs of the first five sets as they found some boundaries along with singles mostly. Alice Monaghan struck as Winfield-Hill was the first one to be dismissed.
Alice Capsey didn't last long as Sophie Ecclestone pulled off a blinder at mid off. The pressure kept on building and Chamari Athapaththu had chewed up too many dot balls. She was trapped in the front of the crease as Kathryn Bryce picked up the third wicket for the Manchester Originals. It was down to Scholfield and Kapp to rescue the innings from there onwards.
Alice Monaghan had two wickets while Bryce got one. However Scholfield and Kapp started to rebuild the innings and accelerated at the right time. The equation had come down to 39 runs from 25 balls during the final phase of the innings as the Originals kept hunting for some wickets.
