9:41 AM IST, 12:11 AM Local Time: A low scoring thriller was on the cards in the Group B encounter between Namibia and Oman, where the African side bottled victory in the Super Over. It is also the first Super Over of this edition.
Namibia won the toss, elected to bowl first at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. Khalid Kail top scored with 34 for Oman as they were bundled out for a paltry 109 in the final over. Ruben Trumpelmann picked up 2 wickets off the first 2 balls of the match to finish with 4/21, David Wiese finished with 3/28.
Namibia lost opener Michael Van Lingen on the second delivery of the innings for a duck. Nikolaas Davin (24 off 31) and Jan Frylinck (45 off 48) stabilized the innings with a 42-run stand for the 2nd wicket.
Mehran Khan brought Oman back in the game with 3/7 in 3 overs. Aqib Ilyas (1/17), Ayaan Khan (1/12) and Bilal Khan (1/25) picked up a wicket apiece. Kaleemullah bowled a tidy couple of overs to conceded just 10 runs.
With 5 runs required in the final over, Mehran bowled Frylinck on the first ball and trapped Zane Green for a duck to put Namibia on the backfoot. With 2 runs required off the last ball, Wiese could snatch only a bye to push the match in the Super Over.

David Wiese (Player of the Match): "First of all, yeah, I've aged a couple of years tonight. I don't have many years left in me, so I need to take it easy. But, yeah, it was just an emotionally draining game, I suppose.
I think it helped that I was in there at the end. I had a feel for the wickets and, you know, I knew that if I could get one or two hits away at the start of the super over, I could put them under pressure.
I think the pitch was actually a difficult one. It didn't play the way we expected, but I thought we adapted quite nicely. It was a little unpredictable, with some balls popping up a bit, others staying low, and a few turning sharply for the spinners.
If you're chasing 180 on that wicket, you approach it completely differently, and you might find it a bit more intense. The wicket doesn't do quite as much. But when you allow them to bowl with a low total and just knock it away, it kind of brings them back into the game. Definitely, 140 would have been tough to chase down there, but when you have a bit more intent, things change. We've learned a lot from this game, and we’ve had a run on this wicket now, so we’ve got another opportunity. Yeah, hopefully, we can take the learnings into the next game."

Aqib Ilyas (Oman Captain): "We could have enjoyed the game if we won. This is part of cricket. Credit goes to our team they fought really well on such a low target. People would have enjoyed but we would have enjoyed more had we won the game.
Credit goes to Trumpelmann for executing his plans but our batters they came up. When they were set they should have gone for more target. We were 15-20 runs short. The wicket was turning and we can be in the match. We were maybe 15 runs short.
When the righty batters come in I have the quality to bowl leg spin and off spin against the left handers as it is difficult to hit those. You should have different skills in T20.
Bilal is one of the best bowlers you can have in this level. There are days when you plan but it doesn't go your way. So I think he was very clear but unfortunately the ball was wet and was coming well on the bat. He couldn't execute and it happens. Somedays it goes the opposite way."

Gerhard Erasmus (Namibia Captain): "Yeah, it was tough to build momentum through the innings. We tried to achieve this by running between the wickets and lifting the tempo a bit, but every now and then you need that occasional boundary to settle the game and prevent it from going too deep. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for us that way.
We need to take more accountability as batters in the middle order. On a pitch like that, it's important to take responsibility after facing 15-20 balls, and you should try to avoid letting new batters face. In the Super Over, we showed that there are runs available if you assess the pitch carefully and take responsibility.
(Wiese bowling the Super Over) David was in the change room and he was very clear that he wanted to bowl the Super Over. It really does break the duck a little bit for you and feels great to get our first win in this tournament. We were eager to compete here, and hopefully, we can keep up this performance."
