NMP won in superover
6:38 PM IST, Local Time: North Mumbai Panthers clinch a tense victory in the Super Over to make it 2 wins in 2 games to go on top of the table in the 4th edition of T20 Mumbai. It was match number 5 at Wankhede Stadium with Bandra Blasters blasting 228/5 on the board and allowing Panthers to score 228/8.

Suved Parkar starred in the first innings with 110 off 54 balls hitting 10 fours and 7 sixes with the next best score being Prateek Yadav's 33 off 15 at the top of the order. Pratik Mishra was the pick of the Panthers bowlers with 3/38. Vaibhav Mali was economic with 0/35. Mohit Avasthi and Harsh Tanna picking up a wicket apiece.

In response, Ajinkya Rahane and Hardik Tamore added 50 runs in quick time for the first wicket before Rahane was sent back for 15. Impact player Kevin D'Almeida couldn't do much and it was Abhigyan Kundu's 39 run knock that stabilized the chase alongside Tamore as the duo addded 67 runs for the 3rd wicket.

The spin duo of Dhrumil Matkar (3/32) and Sagar Chabria (3/9 in 2) pulled things back in the middle overs but Tanush Kotian's brave and unbeaten 32 off 14 balls ensured the scores were tied in the end. Mali's allround display was put on show in the Super Over as he smashed 2 sixes and a four to hit 19 in 5 balls and helped Panthers deposit 20 on the board against Atif Attarwala. Dhrumil Matkar faced 5 deliveries and could only score 6 runs, Suved Parkar picked up a single as Mohit Avasthi leaked just 7 runs in the Super Over to defend the 20-run total and take the Panthers on top of the points table!
Suved Parkar (Bandra Blasters Captain): "[Where did it went wrong?] Initially, I think we didn't execute our plans. When the bowlers got wickets, we pulled back things. It's a small tournament. We will look to bounce back.

[On their goal going forward] Our goal is to win the next three games and see what happens next.

[On the experience of playing in a Super Over game] Playing at Wankhede is a big experience for all of us. If the youngsters are learning from them, it's great to see."
Player of the Match: Vaibhav Mali
Vaibhav Mali (Player of the Match): [on his role] "When I bowl, I am a bowler and when I bat, I am a batter. I enjoy both.

[on the game] We had prepared already for all scenarios. We didn't find this a difficult situation.

[on the camps] We played two Super Over simulations in the camp.

[on the award] I want to dedicate this award to my family and teammates."
Ajinkya Rahane (North Mumbai Panthers Captain): [on the youngsters] "Really proud the way they handled it. Mumbai club cricket is difficult, challenging. Everyone has gone through the grind. Credit to everyone to remain calm under pressure.

[on the pitch] The wicket was really good. We were 15-20 runs short how they were going. In the last few overs we gave away 60 runs that is commendable on this wicket. Overall they bowled really well.

[on the batters] Really happy for Tamore to get those back-to-back fifties and winning the games for us. It's an opportunity for Mali to play fearless and aggressive cricket and win the game for us."
