Is that it... yes it is! Match done and dusted here and Oman have beaten PNG comfortably by 10 wickets. A completely dominant performance by the hosts who hardly put a foot wrong. This was too short and Singh pounces on it quickly. He stays deep inside his crease and clobbers it deep, deep into the deep mid wicket fence to end the contest. That was clean as a whistle from Jatinder Singh..

Arya: And that's it. What a sensational performance from the co-hosts. They have trounced Papua New Guinea by 10 wickets are convincing winner on Day 1 of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2021. A target of 130 could have been a tricky one had PNG got some early wickets. However that wasn't to be as the opening duo of Jatinder Singh and Aqib Illyas ensured that Oman chased the target down with all 10 wickets in hand and with more than six overs to spare.

Arya: Right from the word go, Jatinder Singh and Ilyas looked in complete command of proceedings. It was a steady start for Oman as they reached 17 in the first 3 overs. It was from the 4th over that the openers started taking a toll on the PNG bowlers. Both the batsmen played some delightful shots and ensured no wickets fell in the powerplay. From there on, they played sensibly and never missed the opportunities to find the boundaries.

The situation kept going out of PNG's grasp as both Jatinder Singh and Ilyas piled on the agony on the PNG bowlers. They couldn't get over from the collapse they had while batting and eventually went onto lose the match by 10 wickets inside the 14th over. Jatinder Singh was the more attacking partner remaining unbeaten on 73 of 42 deliveries which included 7 fours and 4 sixes while Aqib Ilyas chipped in with an undefeated 50 which came in 43 deliveries and was studded with 5 fours and a six.

Down with Murali Kartik who will have a chat with Zeeshan Maqsood- I am very happy. Because that was a rucial time for us. They were batting really well. Went back and couldn't put the runs. So much of total. I am just I also dont know how it turns but I just want to keep it tight. That is my strength.

Because that time wicket was playing very well, I told my boys to not give boundaries and not give loose balls. We came back very well in the game. We know this is our home conditions. We know that if they score 130-140 that can be chased very easily. Batting second becomes easy. Jatinder Singh and Aqib Ilyas played brilliantly. A big thank you to the crowd for supporting us.

Asad Vala, PNG skipper- Wasn't a good start with the batting. Losing two wickets for two runs but it was a good comeback from the middle order. To collapse in the end it was disappointing. On that wicket 129 was never going to be enough. We thought if we get some early wickets we could put them under pressure but that didn't happen.

We were looking at around 160 170 which would have given us a chance. Charles got run out then I got out which didn't allow us to post a good total. Maqsood bowled brilliantly. They got crucial wickets. Our batting wasn't upto the mark. But the way we faought back after losing two to end the powerplay with 40 on the board that showed the character we have.

Zeeshan Maqsood, Oman skipper- We have to improve our fielding. Have to rectify the mistakes we committed today. Always we have 8 bowling options. We have plenty of options in bowling and batting that is a good thing to have for us.

Ground fielding we have to do more and more and come back strong. Few times some nervousness is there. We cannot repeat the mistakes and Insallah we will improve on those aspects.
