12:59 PM IST | Pakistan have held their nerves to win this game and enter the semi-finals!
Earlier in the match, Bangladesh won the toss and opt to bat first. At the halfway mark, Bangladesh were 70/1 and looked like they were cruising through, but wickets fell regularly, and Pakistan came back well in the second half of the innings to restrict Bangladesh to a well below-par total of 127/8 in their allotted 20 overs. While Najmul Hossain Shanto was the top-scorer with a 48-ball 74, Afif Hossain gave some finishing touch with an unbeaten 20-ball 24.
Apart from these two batters, Bangladesh batters did not have a good day as they succumbed to a Shaheen Shah Afridi special, who finished with the figures of 4-0-22-4. While Shadab Khan picked a couple of wickets, Iftikhar Ahmed and Haris Rauf scalped a wicket each.
Chasing a semi-final spot, Pakistan openers Mohammad Rizwan (32 off 32) and Babar Azam (25 off 33) gave the team a cautious yet solid start as they added 57 runs in 10.3 overs. While Nasum Ahmed scalped Babar, Rizwan was taken care of by Ebadot Hossain in the next over. The new number three, Mohammad Nawaz, was undone by a brilliant piece of a direct hit by Litton Das in the 15th over.
Mohammad Haris (31 off 18) played a blinder of a cameo to take the team closer to the victory line but failed to finish the game. While Iftikhar Ahmed, too, failed to take the team home, Shan Masood (24* off 14) got the runs they needed by nudging the ball around to complete the victory by 5 wickets.
Stay tuned for the presentations!
