Sufiyan Muqeem (Player of the Match): (On his consistent wicket-taking performance) “First of all, I thank Allah. The performances have been good, and the team is winning as well. The team environment is very positive, and that helps everyone perform individually.

(On bowling execution and control) Execution is in our hands, so I focus on that. During matches, I discuss with Ifti bhai. We try to stick to the same lengths that are working, and with Allah’s help, we get success.

(On handling aggressive batters like Rilee Rossouw) I keep my plans very simple. I don’t overthink about the batter - I just stick to my plan, and that’s where my success comes from.”
Saud Shakeel (Quetta Gladiators Captain): "(Were you 10-15 runs short?) Yes it was a 170-175 run wicket. We are doing a lot of similar mistakes and losing wickets in the middle overs and we are unable to decide how to play. I think we controlled it in the last game but repeated the mistake again.

(How to correct these mistakes?) We are trying. We sit and make the game plans but somewhere we go deep into tactics that we go a bit out of the basics of cricket. This is going against us. We made a few changes after winning the last game. We should look to better in the areas where we made the fault.

(On bringing in Usman Tariq late) We were trying to take the game deep and back to back wickets could have helped us. Usman could have given us those wickets. When we do not post enough runs on the board, I think opponents do not take their chances against our spinners."
Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi Captain): (On the bowling performance after the toss) “Early on, we felt the conditions suited our bowling. Throughout the tournament, our bowling unit has been delivering well at the end, and that’s been a key factor for us. We’re trying to continue that momentum. After the first six overs, Sufiyan and the rest of the bowlers chipped in really well, which has been crucial in our wins.

(On the team’s all-round performance and debut contributions) It’s been a complete team effort. Sufiyan has been performing consistently, and today Basit made his debut and took three wickets, especially bowling well in the Powerplay.

(On preparation during the break) During the break, we worked really hard. Even players who weren’t playing stayed ready, so whenever someone gets an opportunity, they can deliver, like Basit did today.

(On his own form) I’m feeling good. When you spend time at the crease and score runs, your confidence grows. I’m trying to build on that and play more good innings for the team. My aim was to build partnerships and stick to my strengths. I tried to take the innings deep, and Alhamdulillah, it worked. When you score runs and contribute to winning matches, it gives you a different level of confidence.”
That brings curtains to our coverage of another superb performance by the Peshawar Zalmi. Their bowlers and Captain Babar Azam led them to victory. Quetta Gladiators have a few things to think about as we move to the final stages of the event.

We have a double header lined up tomorrow. Hyderabad Kingsmen take on RawalPindiZ at 3 PM IST (2:30 PM Local Time) and Karachi Kings take on Islamabad United at 7.30 PM IST (7 PM Local Time). Do join us for all the action.
