Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi Captain): (On the bowling performance after the toss) “Early on, we felt the conditions suited our bowling. Throughout the tournament, our bowling unit has been delivering well at the end, and that’s been a key factor for us. We’re trying to continue that momentum. After the first six overs, Sufiyan and the rest of the bowlers chipped in really well, which has been crucial in our wins.
(On the team’s all-round performance and debut contributions) It’s been a complete team effort. Sufiyan has been performing consistently, and today Basit made his debut and took three wickets, especially bowling well in the Powerplay.
(On preparation during the break) During the break, we worked really hard. Even players who weren’t playing stayed ready, so whenever someone gets an opportunity, they can deliver, like Basit did today.
(On his own form) I’m feeling good. When you spend time at the crease and score runs, your confidence grows. I’m trying to build on that and play more good innings for the team. My aim was to build partnerships and stick to my strengths. I tried to take the innings deep, and Alhamdulillah, it worked. When you score runs and contribute to winning matches, it gives you a different level of confidence.”
