Rajat Patidar (Royal Challengers Bengaluru Captain): "(Few nervy moments at the end?) Yeah, I think it was a tight match but there are a lot of learnings from this game. The way we started our bowling innings, I think Bhuvi and Hazlewood bowled really well. After that, we came in the game. Suyash once again bowled really well. And at the end, the yorkers bowled by Rasikh, Bhuvi and Hazlewood was really nice to see.

(On the death bowling performance) We had a discussion that if we can keep them under 220, it will be a good total to chase down. In the last 3 overs, we bowled according to our plans and the execution was just spot on. The way they bowled the yorkers were just really good. that's why we stopped them under 200 to 205. That's it.

(On the opening partnership) Superb. The way Bethell and Virat bhai started which kept us on the driving seat and special knock by Devdutt. That was nice to see. It was a quickfire innings which I enjoyed a lot. I think in the middle phase we lost couple of back to back wickets which will be a learning from this game. We will go back and rectify from our mistakes."

Virat Kohli (Player of the Match): [on the pitch] We had to assess the wicket early on because they had a quality bowling attack and with a chase of 200 in Bangalore, we know we are only 1 partnership away. The conversation between me and Bethell was to analyze in the first couple of overs and then take the game on from there. Dev's done this twice in this season where he has just come in and played a blinder from ball one. You know, the first ball he hit off Rabada, it was magnificent. He has the game awareness and the ability especially in these conditions like ours. To be able to play good cricketing shots and strike over 200 to hurt the opposition, which is quite rare to be honest. You never see him slogging the ball. You feel like he's not giving you a sniff in the game and he is scoring so freely. Dev's innings was the clear difference in the first half. I was just trying to stay in the game enough so that he doesn't feel all the pressure and it was my responsibility to hit boundaries at the right times. The partnership was the game changer and game sealer for us eventually.

[on the assessment of the surface] Even in our bowling innings, we pulled things back. They were about 20-25 runs short in the end. We were looking at 230/235 at one stage but our bowlers did a magnificent job and the feedback was the pitch is not bad at all. It's probably the best conditions we've had so far. The ball was coming on nicely. The spinners weren't able to get the grip. It wasn't holding into the pitch so we felt if we stay in the game enough, string in a big partnership then it's gonna get tougher and tougher. Once  you get hold of the conditions, you get on the top of the bowlers then you back yourself to take the game on and that was the conversation. Dev was going great guns. The idea was just to keep pressing the bowlers back. And whoever we felt like, we want to take down, the message was very clear from the batter and then the non-striker saying, yeah, go for it. There was intent, clarity and feedback from the other end so we didn't have any doubts during that partnership. And I think that's what worked for us.

[on the body language] The body language comes from a belief that you have in your abilities. We have a tremendous batting lineup. We have guys who can hit good cricketing shots and hurt bowlers. Then we have the power of Tim David & Romario, then the cricket smarts of Krunal, who can come in under pressure and play a knock like that. He really understands the game. You can see it in his bowling as well. The combination that we have gives us confidence to go out and play like that. The message in the group is simple. If you see a ball to hit, you back yourself and go for it because we have the batting depth and confidence as well.

[on the Chinnaswamy crowd] We are happy that we were able to play 5 games here. The fans get to see the team again and it's just a special place to play cricket and hopefully at the later stage in the season we'll be able to come back and entertain the crowd once more. So, yeah, let's see what happens, but yeah, it's been brilliant to play at home, and we have won four out of five here, so it's been a great start."

What a performance from the defending champions! They’ve signed off the Chinnaswamy leg in style as it was also their 50th win at this iconic venue. As the saying goes, catches win you matches — and dropping someone like Kohli on a duck will almost always come back to hurt you. RCB bounce back to winning ways, while it’s back-to-back defeats for the Titans.

A Super Saturday double-header awaits for all of us tomorrow! Delhi Capitals take on Punjab Kings in the afternoon at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, followed by Rajasthan Royals facing Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur — two cracking contests lined up.
