Short delivery outside the off stump. Jasdeep swings with all his might. Pulls off the bottom of the blade. Ball lands short of deep midwicket, just a single on the final delivery!

MINY won by 5 runs
10:39 AM IST, 10:09 PM Local Time: MI New York clinch a tense victory in a low scoring thriller contest in Pomona, clinching the game by 5 runs against the Seattle Orcas and stopping them from going at the top of the points table. MINY overhaul the Orcas to reach the 2nd place themselves!

The Orcas won the toss and elected to bowl first. The pitch displayed some uneven bounce as the ball shot off the good length and kept considerably low as well making shot making difficult for the batters. Quinton de Kock got a couple of lives and made good use of it scoring 61 in 46 balls to take MINY to a fighting 132/8, Orcas captain Marcus Stoinis picked up 3/14, Ottneil Baartman 2/23, Jasdeep Singh 2/36 and Cameron Gannon 1/29.

For the Seattle Orcas, skipper Stoinis showed some fight with 36 off 31 balls but wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Corbin Bosch and Trent Boult dented with early blows and then Romario Shepherd joined in with 3/16 - a terrific spell to derail the middle order. Bosch finished an economic spell of 1/11, Boult had 1/26 to his name. Kieron Pollard tasked himself to defend 14 in the final over against Stoinis and an in-form Jasdeep Singh who struck an unbeaten 16 off 8 balls with 2 fours and a six against Boult in the penultimate over.

Stoinis smashed a six first ball, but was caught on the next. Baartman turned the strike over to Jasdeep but Pollard proved his experience was a bit too difficult to overhaul tonight and helped the men in blue clinch a 5-run victory after 7 were needed to win off the last ball and 6 for a Super Over.
Marcus Stoinis (Seattle Orcas Captain): [on the total] "We thought it was about par. We had our chances to restrict them which we didn't take which was unfortunate. We were reasonably happy, we squeezed them well.

[on the toughest time to bat] I think the 40 overs were tough to bat. That's a definitely a bit of fight in T20 cricket.

[on the chat during the chase] Unfortunately we got to the position where we needed to really hit some boundaries and we did that and we got the game close. Jessy batted phenomenally so good on him. We just lost wickets consistently and it's hard to score on the wicket. It's a bit unfortunate."

Romario Shepherd (Player of the Match): [on his bowling form] "Just keeping it simple, try and hit a good length because the pitch is offering so much. All you got to do is keep it disciplined on a good length and make the batsman play.

[on the Hetmyer dismissal] Yeah it meant a bit extra because we know how dangerous he is. He's one of my best friend in cricket so to get him out (laughs).

[on the emotions] We know once we hit the right area, Stoinis one of the most dangerous hitters going around in the world. So getting him out at that stage was important but Jessy came and played an unbelievable knock out there.

[on added motivation with the family around] Yeah it does. You know you want to perform in front of them because he's getting to know his cricket so he know what's up. Disappointing with the bat so had to get something with the ball."
Nicholas Pooran (MI New York Captain): [on the chat halfway] "We spoke that it's gonna be a dogfight. Today is all about staying consistently disciplined on that track. We didn't bat properly in the 2nd half of the first innings. We still had something to defend based on the start that we got from Quinny. Once we got a couple of wickets in the powerplay, staying disciplined was required and today was brilliant.

[on Stoinis' six in the final over] Honestly I knew it was just a matter of one wicket right. The good thing was it was 15 runs in the over there to defend and it's Polly. Things always happen when he's bowling. It's not the first time he's bowled a last over. Last year in a similar situation where Hetmyer hit that last ball for six and tonight again he was in the same situation and the table stayed for us."
That concludes our coverage of a magnificent low scoring thriller between two top sides in the Major League Cricket competition! MI New York now join the San Francisco Unicorns and the Orcas to have 6 points on the table and keep the 2nd spot - Orcas dropping down to 3 with a slightly worse net run rate.
