SA-W won by 4 wickets
6:12 PM IST, 1:42 PM Local Time: That's it. Chloe Tryon hits the winning runs as South Africa beat Bangladesh by four wickets at the 'Home of Cricket'. It was a nervy win for them but it keeps them alive in the tournament. Now, all eyes will be on the next clash between Australia and India. The Proteas will now be supporting the Southern Stars. A win for Australia and South Africa will be through to the semi-finals. Bangladesh's campaign comes to an end.

Earlier, Bangladesh opted to bat first. They lost both their openers in Juairiya Ferdous (0) and Taj Nehar (1) inside the powerplay, with the former getting cleaned up on the very first ball of the match. Sobhana Mostary and Sharmin Akhter steadied the ship with a very good 56-run stand.

Sharmin (22) and Mostary (42) laid the foundation for a strong finish. Skipper Nigar Sultana played a fantastic cameo of 20-ball 32* at the back end to power her side to 117/5 at the end of 20 overs. For South Africa, Nonkululeko Mlaba bowled beautifully and registered figures of 2/22.

Marufa Akter knocked over Laura Wolvaardt (0) on the first ball of the run chase. Tazmin Brits and Annerie Dercksen steadied the ship with a good 52-run stand before the former fell in the ninth over. In the next over, Dane van Niekerk (4) departed.

Dercksen looked good for her run-a-ball 45 before she got dismissed in the 15th over. A mix-up in the middle resulted in Marizanne Kapp (16) getting run out. In the penultimate over, Nadine de Klerk (15) holed out in the deep but Chloe Tryon (8*) held her nerves and took her side across the line with four balls to spare.

Bangladesh bowled with a lot heart. Nahida Akter (2/24) picked up two wickets whereas Marufa Akter (1/23), Sanjida Akter Meghla (1/28) and Ritu Moni (1/24) grabbed a wicket apiece but it wasn't enough as they failed to defend the total.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.
Trivia: This is only the second Women's T20 World Cup match in which both teams lost a wicket off the first ball of their innings. The only previous instance came between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Gros Islet in the 2018 Women's T20 World Cup.

Marizanne Kapp (Player of the Match) - " (On her bowling ) A bit disappointed that I didn't attack the stumps more. But the whole bowling unit was good today. We started off well although they did have a few good partnerships in the middle overs.

(On Bangladesh getting to 117) We allowed them to get to a few more than we would have liked. (On her and South Africa's batting) Yeah we always seem to do this but we will take the win. Even though it was very scrappy. "
Most Player of the Match Award for South Africa in Women’s T20 WCs:

4* - Marizanne Kapp

3 - Tazmin Brits

2 - Shabnim Ismail, Chloe Tryon, Dane van Niekerk, Laura Wolvaardt
Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh Women Captain): "[Thoughts on the game?] See, I guess we lost early wickets in the powerplay. But Sobhana played really well. They were trying to build a partnership. We couldn't get runs in the middle overs. We were good in the final overs. We were short by 10-15 runs and it cost us.

[Key learnings from this tournament?] First of all, I should thank my bowlers and fielders for the way they kept fighting till the end. It made me feel very proud of the team. We came here to win games definitely. We won two games. But we wanted to win more. We made it to a spot where we can qualify for the semi-finals. I'm happy that everyone gave 100% on the field and tried to win games for Bangladesh."
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa Women Captain) - It was a bit too close in the end but yes we will take the win. I think we were excellent with the ball. We started off really well. They did a get few runs at the back end there. We would have liked to restrict them to a 100 or less with how we started.

(On the run chase) Yeah overall, very pleased. It was a tricky chase for us chasing 118 especially with the way we batted against spin as a unit. They brought in some really slow spin and that made things a bit tough for us on a slow wicket. We need to work a bit on our batting ourselves going forward.

(On whether she will watch the India- Australia clash) Yeah definitely I will. Never thought I would be supporting Australia but Go Aussies for tonight. "
Right then. That wraps up our coverage of this game. Now, it all comes down to the clash between Australia and India. Do switch tabs to follow live-action. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Soumarya Dutta, scorer Paras Yadav and statistician Aman. Bye bye.
