Match Abandoned

At least 5 sets to be bowled in both innings to implement the DLS method. If it doesn't happen, both the teams will get the points shared. We are just 9 balls short of it. And if the points get shared, Southern Brave will qualify to the playoffs.
21:44 IST and 17:14 Local Time | The rain has got heavier now. Firstly, the hover cover was out there to cover the pitch but now, the entire bowler's run-up is getting covered.
21:56 IST and 17:16 Local Time | The latest we can start is by 18:10 Local that is 22:40 IST for 25-ball contest.
22:09 IST & 5:39 PM Local Time| Well Folks, not good news coming all the way from Southamption. The Match has been ABONDONED due to Rain.
22:14 IST & 5:44 Local Time | The rain has the last say. The Points will be shared between the Southern Brave and Welsh Fire. The Southern Brave have qualified for the Playoffs and will play the Eliminator at the Kennington Oval on Saturday (17th August). So here is how the rain curtailed match panned out.

Opting to bat first, Welsh Fire came all guns blazing and posted a massive total of 181/5 in their 100 balls. They were batting with a positive intent from ball one. The openers Stevie Eskinazi and Jonny Bairstow gave them a decent followed by Luke Wells who registered a brilliant fifty to his name.

The highlight of the innings was  Glenn Phillips who finally returned to form in their last league game and played a solid knock 48 off just 19 balls which helped their side cross the 180-mark.

With the ball, the Southern Brave were ordinary in the field and leaked too many in the end. Tymal Mills was the pick of the bowlers and picked up 2 wickets to his name. Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan were expensive tonight. Not a good day with the ball for them.

Coming to the chase, we just had 16 balls of play. James Vince started well for the Brave at the top but was dismissed by David Willey for 19 before the doors of heavens opened up.

Just 2 more league games remaining before we get into the business end of the tournament.
Southern Brave have qualified for the playoff with 11 points and a better net run rate. They finished with an equal point with the Superchargers but due to the NRR, they have qualified and will play the eliminator on Saturday.
James Vince(Southern Brave Captain): "Never in doubt that the weather has helped us. We were a bit sloppy and the home side was really good. Thankfully the rain came at the right time. 25 balls to constitute a game and we needed to get 42 from it which means around 22 from 10 balls.

I think on the haul, the bowling group should get the credit. They have done well and the in-form guys were reasonably great.
That's all we have for you from this fixture between Southern Brave and Welsh Fire. The Match was Abandoned due to rain and the Southern Brave have qualified for the playoffs due to better NRR than the Northern Superchargers.
