Abhishek Sharma (Player of the Match): "Thank you so much. (How was his feeling?) I mean, the way we started, we had a plan (me and Head) that we wanted to make full use of the powerplay. When we went out there, I felt that the wicket was a bit slow. We had to change our plans but I still wanted to utilize the powerplay, as I always do. It's just always been a special moment scoring runs in this special ground and that also, I have said that before that you don't know the par score over here. I just wanted to entertain the crowd.
(How has he managed to take the game to a higher level every year?) Well, special mention goes to the coaches and the captain for backing me so much. They allow me to play freely. Three years back, I had this in my mind that I wanted to show my talent to everyone. You need to have the back from the captain and the coach, that's very important in the team. You know, the environment we had in the camp in the 2024 season was something really different and changed everything for us. So, it wasn't just the team but the team wanted to grow the youngsters. This is with the same intent, I play for Punjab as well. Punjabis like to play with freedom. Playing here in Hyderabad is always special.
(On his celebration) Of course, I have been doing this 'L' celebration for long. It's just 'love' for the stadium, the way they support us throughout the tournament, even back at the hotel. It's just that I want to contribute from my side for the team. I want to show some love to them. Of course my parents are here which is always very special. My sister is missing because she had some infection. So, this is for you as well.
(What are the conversations he has with his family members) I mean to be very honest, I don't know how but since my Under-12 days, my dad has been sitting next to the screen all the time and in Hyderabad as well. He is always sitting there and whenever I am at the non-striker's end, he always tells me how to play a certain shot. So, it's still going on. I want one of the cameras to go to him from next time and just see his reactions. It's going to be really fun. It's actually incredible as to how much I look at him and he looks at me, giving me instructions."
