Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Hampshire produced a commanding batting display to post an imposing 215/5 in their 20 overs. Openers Toby Albert (39 off 32) and Alistair Orr (22 off 18) provided a solid start, adding 73 runs for the first wicket and helping the visitors reach 55 without loss in the powerplay. Although Surrey struck twice in quick succession, Hampshire maintained their momentum through a brilliant partnership between Hilton Cartwright and Joe Weatherley.
