KNOCKED HIM OVER! Sam Cook finishes things off for Essex. That's the career best figures for the England seamer. Short of a good length at the leg stump, slower ball. Crocombe backs away for room and misses the heave on the inside. The ball crashes onto the leg stump. Essex win by 100 runs!

ESS won by 100 runs
2:13 AM IST & 9:43 PM Local Time: That's it! A complete all-round performance from Essex as they hammer Sussex Sharks by 100 runs.

Earlier in the day, Essex won the toss and opted to bat first. They made a positive start, with Michael-Kyle Pepper making the most of an early reprieve and scoring the bulk of the runs during the Powerplay. Essex reached 52/1 at the end of the first six overs before Pepper departed for a well-made 47 shortly after the fielding restrictions were lifted.

Contributions from Luc Benkenstein and Matthew Critchley kept the innings moving through the middle overs, even as Sussex Sharks chipped away with regular wickets. However, Simon Harmer (46* off 17) produced a sensational late flourish, helping Essex plunder 48 runs from the final two overs. The last over alone yielded 31 runs as Essex finished with a formidable 204/6.

In reply, Sussex suffered a disastrous start to the chase. Sam Cook struck twice in the second over to remove both openers, while Shane Snater added another wicket in his second over as the new-ball pair ripped through the top order. Sussex were left reeling at 30/4 at the end of the Powerplay and already faced a steep climb.

The collapse deepened when Mackenzie Jones struck in his first over, reducing Sussex to 34/5. The visitors never recovered from that position, losing wickets in clusters and failing to build any meaningful partnerships. Tom Alsop top-scored with 35 off 35 balls, while Danny Briggs added 24 off 17 deliveries, but their efforts were not enough. Sussex were eventually bowled out for 104 in 17.3 overs, with Sam Cook producing career-best figures of 4/7 from 3.3 overs. Essex completed a dominant 100-run victory.
That's all we have for you from the County Ground in Brighton, where Essex have produced a dominant all-round display to defeat Sussex Sharks by 100 runs.

For now, it's goodbye from Brighton. This is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash who, along with scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur brought all the updates of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE👋
