4:45 PM IST, 10:15 PM Local Time: That’s it. Perth Scorchers Women make it to their fourth Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Final. They beat Sydney Sixers Women by 11 runs in the Challenger at the North Sydney Oval to progress to the final. They will now face Hobart Hurricanes Women in the grand finale for the ultimate prize, which will be played on Saturday. Heartbreak for the Sixers as they suffer a loss in front of their home crowd to get knocked out of the competition.
Chasing 184 for a place in the final, Sophia Dunkley and Ellyse Perry gave the Sixers a decent start. Both kept ticking the scoreboard and added 58 for the first wicket before Perry departed on 29. Alyssa Healy (1) and Sophia Dunkley (41) were dismissed in a quick succession as the Scorchers kept things tight either side of the drinks break.
Skipper Ashleigh Gardner and Amelia Kerr steadied the ship with a 53-run stand before the former fell on 26 in the 16th over, with the required run rate shooting up above 12. Alana King picked up her third by dismissing dangerous-looking Maitlan Brown on 14 in the 18th over.
Kerr scored 42 off 29 before falling in the final over of the match. The Scorchers held their nerves and did well to close out the game as they restricted the Sixers to 172/6 to win the game by 11 runs and progress to yet another WBBL final. Alana King was the standout bowler for them, registering magnificent figures of 3/17 from her four overs.
Earlier, the Scorchers were asked to bat first and yet again, Katie Mack and Beth Mooney gave them a solid start. Both survived lifelines on nine each and they put 66 between them before Mack fell on 40 in the eighth over. The Sixers pulled back things in the middle overs.
The middle-order batters failed to get going and the Scorchers kept losing wickets at regular intervals but there was no stopping Mooney as she registered yet another fifty. She scored a wonderful 44-ball 76 before getting dismissed in the penultimate over of the innings.
A flurry of wickets at the back end of the innings meant that the Scorchers posted 183/8 on the board. For the Sixers, skipper Ashleigh Gardner (3/25) picked up three scalps whereas Maitlan Brown (2/24) and Amelia Kerr (2/46) picked up two each. In reply, they lost wickets at regular intervals and fell short by 11 runs.

Beth Mooney (POTM): "A bit of a whirlwind, to be honest. We were a bit slow getting out of Perth, and it was a long travel day yesterday, but we're used to that coming from the west coast, so we don’t mind it. We’ll be on to the next thing tomorrow. There’s a real sense of calm in the group, which is great to see.
Yeah, absolutely. When you’re sent in to bat in a big final like this, you’ve got to make it count and settle the dugout. There are always nerves in big games, but I thought everyone handled it beautifully.
And yes, it’s never easy playing with an injury. She (Alana King) knows she hasn’t been at her best this tournament, and that finger has hampered her a bit. But the timing has been perfect — she’s been outstanding in the last couple of games. Hopefully, she’s got four more overs in her, and a couple of big bombs down in Hobart for sure."
