22:03 IST and 17:33 Local Time- There was some nervy scenes at the back end of the game but the Oval Invincibles have pulled this game off and won it by 5 wickets with 6 balls to spare. Marizanne Kapp played a really crucial knock of 26 runs from 24 balls and in a low scoring match, she anchored the run chase to get her side home.
Chamari Athapaththu began the run chase well for the Oval Invincibles with a few boundaries but she perished soon. Alice Capsey and Lauren Winfield-Hill played out the remainder of the powerplay and managed to keep the scoreboard ticking. The Invincibles got to 25/1 at the end of the first five sets.
Heather Graham struck soon after the powerplay as she got rid of Lauren Winfield-Hill by trapping her plumb in front. Capsey was cleaned up King who bowled a dream delivery. At the end of the halfway stage of the innings, the game was evenly poised as the Oval Invincibles were 45/3 with Marizanne Kapp being new to the crease.
The pair of Scholfield and Kapp started to pick up the boundaries and grabbed the momentum post the halfway stage. They managed to play out Alana King and much the of the threat had been negated by then. The rest of the bowlers failed to generate the breakthroughs and it cost the Trent Rockets in a big way.
Ashleigh Gardner was brought in a bit too late but she tried her best with the ball. She picked up the wicket of Mady Villiers and gave her side a glimmer of hope. Gordon picked up Scholfield for 26 but by that time she had done the job. In the end, Kapp held her nerves despite the loss of wickets and got her side home safely.
