4:17 AM IST, 3:47 PM Local Time: Montreal Royal Tigers have registered a victory by 24 runs over Vancouver Kings in the first semi-final of Canada Super 60 2025. Credit goes to their bowlers, who were able to defend a total of 100 runs.
Electing to bat first, Montreal Royal Tigers' opener Josh Brown gave a fiery start by smashing 26 off just 10 deliveries. However, other top-order batters struggled to get going and kept getting out by holding in the deep. Their innings was struggling until Nick Hobson came out to resurrect it. The batter almost single-handedly took his side to the 100-run mark by making 50* off 23 balls. Hobson smashed 26 runs alone in the final over.
In reply, the Vancouver Kings struggled to hit boundaries consistently throughout their innings. In the process of finding boundaries, they kept losing their wickets. Only opener Max Chu touched the 25-run mark among all their players who came out to bat. The team only managed 76/8 in their 10 overs. The star performers with the ball for Montreal were Ryan Higgins, Isuru Udana and Shakib Al Hasan. In fact, Shakib, despite being a spinner, gave only five runs in his two overs.
Montreal have now qualified for the finals of the Canada Super 60 2025. Their opponent will be the winner of the second semi-final match, which will start soon.
