10:07 PM IST, 5:37 PM Local Time: That's it. Northamptonshire Steelbacks successfully chase down 208 as they register their first win of T20 Blast 2026. They beat Warwickshire Bears by six wickets. A fantastic victory for them as they grab their first points, thanks to a scintillating ton from Chris Lynn.
Chasing 209, Chris Lynn came out all guns blazing. He played some fantastic shots upfront and gave his side a rapid start. His partner Ricardo Vasconcelos scored 27 off 15 before getting run out on the final ball of the powerplay. Nathan McSweeney at three looked scratchy for his 19 before holing out in the deep.
Lynn though was unstoppable as he kept scoring at a brisk rate and kept the required run rate under check. Skipper David Willey at four played a handy cameo of 11-ball 23 before getting cleaned up. Lynn brought up a magnificent ton off just 53 balls. He received good support from Justin Broad who scored a quickfire seven-ball 14.
Lewis McManus remained unbeaten on five and provided the finishing touches to the chase as the Steelbacks chased down the total in 19.4 overs with six wickets in hand. Lynn displayed a T20 batting masterclass, scoring 115* off just 59, hitting 13 fours and five maximums. For the Bears, Jordan Thompson (2/39) picked up two scalps but it wasn't enough as they failed to defend the total.
Earlier, the Bears opted to bat first and lost both their openers Robert Yates (0) and Zen Malik (24) inside the powerplay. Beau Webster at three looked solid at the crease and played an enterprising knock, keeping the Steelbacks at bay in the middle overs. Ed Barnard at five played a fine came of 25-ball 40.
Webster made sure that the Bears finished with a flourish. He scored 97 off 56 before falling on the final ball of the innings as the Bears posted 208/7 on the board at the end of their 20 overs. For the Steelbacks, James Sales (2/63) grabbed two wickets but was on the expensive side. Lynn then stepped up in the chase and helped his side get across the line.
