After losing to Southern Brave in their opening game, they bounce back in front of their home crowd to register a big win over MI London. A 60-run win here and MI London suffer their second straight loss, remaining winless in this edition.
MI London were chasing a mammoth total of 178. Hayley Matthews (10) and Kira Chathli (2) were sent packing inside the powerplay. Danielle Wyatt-Hodge (12) and Amelia Kerr (14) got starts but failed to carry on. To make matters worse, Nicola Carey (4) and skipper Hollie Armitage (6) also fell cheaply as the visitors were reduced to 56/6.
Chinelle Henry and Alice Davidson-Richards tried to resurrect the innings. Both added 46 between them before Henry departed on 30. Davidson-Richards was dismissed on 17 and Welsh Fire didn't waste any time in wrapping up the tail. They knocked over MI London on 117 in 92 balls to win the game comprehensively by 60 runs.
For the hosts, Grace Potts set the tone early in the innings with a brilliant spell. She registered figures of 3/24 from her four sets, which included a maiden. Sophia Smale (2/17), skipper Sophie Devine (2/15) and Georgia Wareham (2/23) picked up two scalps apiece as they defended the total successfully.
Earlier in the day, Georgia Voll and Ella McCaughan gave the Fire side a solid start after they were asked to bat first. Both put 49 for the first wicket before McCaughan fell on 27. Freya Kemp got run out cheaply on one. Sophie Devine joined Voll who scored a quickfire 26-ball 42 before holing out in the deep.
The platform was set for a strong finish. Devine joined hands with Georgia Wareham and gave their side a perfect finish. Devine notched up a fine fifty. She scored 52 off 29 balls before getting stumped in the final set. Wareham remained unbeaten on 20-ball 43* to power her side to 177/4 at the end of their 100 balls.

Georgia Wareham (Welsh Fire, Hero of the Match) - "(On the feeling) It is such an awesome team win. The way we started it was brilliant. With the ball we were clinical. So it was great to take the two points from this game.
(On what was the message for the game) It was our first game at home so we were trying to get used to the home conditions and make use of the home fortress. We had a good game the other day. The last 20 balls let us down in the previous game so it was about keeping things simple today.
(On whether they felt they could get past 170) Yes and no. I think it's a really nice wicket out here and it's a fast outfield, so we didn't really want to put a limit on ourselves. We just wanted to bat the way we did. Batting with Soph at the end there was pretty fun to watch from the other end. I guess the wind was a big factor today as well.
(On the plans with the ball in hand) I think it was just about being really aware of our lengths. Obviously, with the wind, bowling downhill was a little easier, so we wanted to make sure we were hitting the wicket hard from that end and bowling our spin from the other end. I think Soph managed that awesomely, and everyone who had the ball in their hand today did a really good job.
(On her bowling performance) Yeah, I guess it was just about keeping the stumps in play as much as we possibly could. I thought the finish to the innings was awesome too. That's probably going to be our blueprint for the rest of the tournament."
