4:42 AM IST and 7:12 PM Local Time: Liam Livingstone with a stunning finish, following a magnificent innings from the England skipper Jos Buttler as the visitors thrash West Indies by 7 wickets in the second T20I at the Kensington Oval! The tourists cruise home inside 15 overs and have taken a crucial 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
Chasing 159 to win, England were off to a sorry start, with Phil Salt crunching one straight to Brandon King at short extra cover off Akeal Hosein (1/24) right at the very beginning of the second innings.
Jos Buttler and Will Jacks were unbothered, adding a massive 129-run second-wicket partnership to set the stage on fire. Buttler (83 off 45) was the aggressor and hit his 25th T20I half-century, including 8 fours and 6 maximums. Jacks played the second fiddle in the partnership, scoring a 29-ball 38. Both set batters were dismissed by Romario Shepherd (2/42) in one over, but then the match was nearly done and dusted.
Livingstone (23* off 11) hit a few boundaries and wrapped things off in a hurry. West Indies bowlers were smashed all over the park, and apart from Akeal Hosein, none of them stayed economical.
Earlier in the match, Buttler won the second toss in a row and opted to bowl first. Saqib Mahmood and Jofra Archer breathed fire with the new ball and broke the back of the Windies' top order, reducing them to 3/35 inside the powerplay.
Rovman Powell (43 off 41) fought hard with Nicholas Pooran (14 off 23), who failed to get going and was undone by Livingstone. Powell was going well, but Dan Mousley's fiery yorker knocked him over.
West Indies were again in trouble as they were in the series opener. Shepherd (22 off 12) and Matthew Forde (13* off 6) hit a few useful runs at the back end and helped them to get to 158/8 in 20 overs.
For England, Mahmood (2/20), Livingstone (2/16) and Mousley (2/29) bagged two wickets each, while Archer (1/31) and Adil Rashid (1/32) picked up a wicket each.
Stay tuned for the post-match ceremony!
