Amy Hunter (Ireland Women): "(On Ireland winning their first-ever T20 WC game): Yeah, I'm so excited, to be honest. I think it's been building for a while, and we just hadn't quite managed to get over the line. To finally do it is an unbelievable feeling.

(On her batting partnership with Orla Prendergast): It was unbelievable to be out there with her. To be honest, I was just trying to get her on strike as much as possible because she was batting brilliantly. She was absolutely outstanding.

(Nervous after Orla got dismissed) Obviously, I was a little nervous, but we were just desperate to get over the line. I thought our middle order did a fantastic job finishing things off.

(On being part of this Irish side) There have definitely been a few lows along the way, but I think we've responded really well. As a group, we've shown a lot of resilience, and that's something we can take forward.

(On Irish supporters) Full credit to the supporters. They've been absolutely unbelievable. Being just across the border, so many of them came over to support us. As a team, we're incredibly proud, and we're delighted we could get the win for them today.

(Message to team after the first innings) It was all about the value of partnerships. We've spoken about that throughout the tournament, and today we managed to put those partnerships together when it mattered.

(On skipper Gaby Lewis) Gaby has been unbelievable throughout the competition. She's led from the front and held the batting together on several occasions. She deserves a huge amount of credit for the way she's captained the side."
Time for post-match presentations...
Player of the Match: Orla Prendergast
Orla Prendergast (POTM): "(On the victory) It means so much. We've believed in ourselves throughout this tournament, even though the results hadn't quite gone our way. That belief within the group never wavered. To finally get that win is a huge relief and an incredible feeling.

(On today's Irish chase) I think the tempo of the chase was a little different today. They're quite different games and the conditions were different as well. We're just really pleased that everything came together for us today.

(On her partnership with Amy Hunter) To be honest, we don't talk too much out there. It was mainly about building the partnership and batting together. Running between the wickets wasn't really an issue, so it was just about staying together and putting the team in a strong position.

(A complete performance by Ireland today) Absolutely. I think it was probably our best fielding performance of the tournament, which is really pleasing. That's one of the strengths of this team—different players step up on different days, and today was a perfect example of that.

(On the travelling Irish supporters) Just a massive thank you. We constantly feel their support, whether they're here at the ground or cheering us on from home. They make such a difference and really are like a 12th player for us."
Hayley Matthews (West Indies Women Captain): "(On what went wrong for West Indies today) Yeah, it's really disappointing. I thought we had a chaseable total in front of us, but we just weren't able to keep the scoreboard moving throughout the innings. We were probably a bit timid and didn't put enough pressure on the bowlers early in the overs. We ended up trying to catch up too late.

With the ball, I think our execution just wasn't good enough. We overpitched too often, the ball sat up nicely, and they were able to score freely off the back foot. Overall, we didn't execute as well as we needed to, either with the bat or the ball, and we also made a few mistakes in the field.

(On batting unit not firing throughout this WC) We're still trying to figure that out, to be honest. We haven't been able to make the most of the partnerships we've built. Some of that responsibility falls on me because I probably haven't been in my best form. Deandra hasn't quite been at her best either. We're two key parts of the batting order, and when we're not firing, it makes things difficult for the team. We certainly feel like we've let the team down a little. At the same time, we've just got to keep our fingers crossed for what happens next. If we do make the semi-finals, we'll hold our heads high and look forward to the opportunity.

(What needs to be done if West Indies qualify for the semis) If we make the semi-finals from here, it'll definitely feel like it's meant to be. We haven't been anywhere near our best throughout this tournament. If we get through, we'll need to turn up and perform. I think the disappointment and anxiety we're feeling right now can actually motivate us. We'll have to use those emotions as fuel and make sure we don't experience this feeling again.

(On the Ireland performance today) They kept the stumps in play really well and bowled at good, slower speeds, which made batting difficult on that surface. Then with the bat, Orla Prendergast controlled the chase brilliantly. She played a very composed innings, took the game deep and managed it really well. That was probably the biggest difference between the two sides. We didn't have anyone who batted deep into the innings, whereas she did.

(On Chinelle Henry walking off the field in the second innings) Hopefully she'll be okay. She's been managing her injury throughout the tournament and has done a great job just to be out there playing. Hopefully we can get her recovered and ready to go if we make the semi-finals."

TRIVIA: This is Ireland's first-ever win in 22 Women's T20 World Cup matches. It is the most matches taken by a team to register a maiden win at the Women’s T20 World Cup. Pakistan had lost each of their first eight games before winning a low-scoring thriller against India by one run in Galle in 2012.
Gaby Lewis (Ireland Women Captain): "(On the win) I'm absolutely delighted. I'm just so proud of the girls. It's been a tough tournament with some close defeats and also a few heavy losses, which are never easy to take.

But in a tournament like this, you have to dust yourself off and move on, and I think the girls have done that brilliantly. We just kept bouncing back. We've got such a young bowling attack, and I'm incredibly proud of the way they performed today.

(Message to the team after the first innings) We felt it was definitely a chaseable total, especially with the depth we have in our batting order and the quality of players in the side. We were confident going into the innings. I thought we bowled exceptionally well at the death to restrict them. Limiting their boundary-scoring was a massive factor. Then it was about settling in, assessing the conditions and playing positive cricket. I think the girls executed that really well today.

(On maintaining belief throughout the WC) I think it's about remembering the positives. Even though we've had some disappointing results, there were always really good spells with the ball and some excellent batting performances that we could take confidence from. It's easy to get too low after defeats or too high after wins, but we've stayed together as a group throughout. We're a very close-knit team, and we've supported each other both on and off the field. That has made a huge difference, and I'm just so happy with today's result."
A historic win for Ireland Women as they register their first-ever win in T20 WC. Before this match, Ireland had played 20-odd games at the Women's T20 WC but had won none of them. Interestingly, just yesterday, Ireland men's team registered their first-ever T20I victory against world champions, India and now the women's side has scripted history.

West Indies are still in second place in the Group B points table. They will have their eyes set on the England vs New Zealand game, which is set to start in the next few minutes. West Indies will want New Zealand to lose this game. If the White Ferns win, then they proceed to the semi-final stage as they are ahead of the Windies in terms of NRR.

That's it from our live coverage of this match. This is Mohammad Anab signing off on behalf of my colleagues Arijit Kundu, Darpan Tikiya and Paras Yadav. Keep following Crickxo to stay updated with world cricket. Cheers.
