2:21 AM IST, 4:51 PM Local Time: Sri Lanka Women clinch the 3-match ODI series taking an unassailable 2-0 lead by winning the exciting 2nd ODI by 14 runs in the 48th over.
Winning the toss, West Indies decided to bowl first. Karishma Ramharack starred with 3/26, Afy Fletcher (2/40), Aaliyah Alleyne (1/29) and Hayley Matthews (2/44) played supporting roles to bundle the visitors for 208, Vishmi Gunaratne top scoring with 58.
In response the West Indies Women failed to build partnerships and kept losing wickets at regular interval. Shemaine Campbelle scored 30 in 35 balls and Stafanie Taylor scored 27 in 45 to stabilize the ship.
The Lankan spinners pulled things back with a fantastic effort in the middle overs. Jannillea Glasgow continued her good form and struck consecutive half centuries in the series hitting 5 fours in her 50 off 69 balls.
She added 45 runs for the 9th wicket with Afy Fletcher (20 off 23) carrying the team closer to the total and was the last batter to be dismissed in the 48th over lobbing a difficult catch to Kavisha Dilhari at extra cover.
Sugandika Kumari (3/38) was the pick of the bowlers. Inoka Ranaweera (3/44) got crucial breakthroughs in the middle and death overs. Dewmi Vihanga's leg breaks got her returns of 2/33 with skipper Chamari Athapaththu bowling a tidy spell of 1/35 and claimed the much important wicket of Glasgow in the 48th over.
