Richa Ghosh

One of the most destructive wicketkeeper-batters in modern women’s cricket, Richa Ghosh has redefined India’s lower-middle order with her fearless strokeplay and clean ball-striking.

Hailing from Siliguri, West Bengal, she burst onto the scene as a teenager and quickly earned a reputation for finishing games under pressure. Blessed with immense power and natural timing, Ghosh has evolved into India’s go-to finisher in white-ball cricket while also developing into a dependable wicketkeeper.

Her ability to accelerate from the very first ball has made her a vital asset across formats, and she continues to play a key role for both India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Richa Ghosh Early Career

Born on September 28, 2003, Richa Ghosh developed her cricketing skills while representing Bengal in age-group and domestic competitions. Her performances in the Women’s Challenger Trophy showcased her fearless batting and sharp wicketkeeping, earning praise from former India pacer Jhulan Goswami and the national selectors.

At just 16 years of age, she was named in India’s squad for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, underlining the faith the selectors had in her exceptional talent. Even before making a significant mark internationally, Ghosh was widely regarded as one of India’s brightest young prospects because of her rare ability to clear the boundary with ease.

Richa Ghosh International Career

Richa Ghosh made her T20I debut for India on February 12, 2020, against Australia, becoming one of the youngest players to represent the country. She soon established herself as India’s preferred wicketkeeper-batter in limited-overs cricket, thanks to her aggressive batting style and finishing ability.

Her fearless approach made her a regular member of India’s squads for ICC tournaments, including the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup and the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Her career reached another milestone on December 21, 2023, when she made her Test debut against Australia, becoming an all-format international before turning 21. 

In late 2024, she equalled the record for the fastest fifty in Women’s T20Is by reaching the landmark in just 18 balls against the West Indies. She further cemented her place among India’s biggest match-winners by playing crucial finishing roles during India’s victorious 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup campaign.

Away from international cricket, Ghosh has also become a sought-after franchise player. She represented the Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League before being signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for INR 1.90 crore in the inaugural Women’s Premier League auction. Her powerful cameos and finishing ability played an important role in RCB’s maiden WPL title triumph in 2024, further enhancing her reputation as one of the finest young wicketkeeper-batters in women’s cricket.
