Yastika Bhatia

One of the most elegant left-handers in Indian women’s cricket, Yastika Bhatia has steadily carved out a reputation as a technically sound wicketkeeper-batter capable of anchoring an innings while accelerating when required. 

Hailing from Vadodara, Gujarat, Yastika combines classical strokeplay with remarkable composure, qualities that have made her a dependable option in India’s top order.

While explosive batters often grab the headlines, Yastika has quietly built her career on patience, timing and smart decision-making. Equally proficient behind the stumps, she has evolved into one of India’s most reliable wicketkeeper-batters across formats.

Yastika Bhatia Early Career

Born on November 1, 2000, Yastika Bhatia began making waves in Gujarat’s domestic circuit at a young age. 

A naturally gifted left-handed batter, she first grabbed the spotlight during the 2017-18 Senior Women’s One Day Trophy, where she announced herself with a magnificent 131 against Maharashtra Under-19. 

Her consistent performances earned her a place in the National Cricket Academy’s 25-member camp in 2018 before she went on to captain the West Zone side and represent India A.

Alongside her dependable batting, Yastika’s neat wicketkeeping added another dimension to her game, helping her emerge as one of the country’s most promising young cricketers. Years of hard work in domestic cricket eventually culminated in her maiden India call-up in 2021.

Yastika Bhatia International Career

Although Yastika Bhatia was initially selected for India’s home series against South Africa in 2021 without making her debut, she used the setback as motivation, training under former India wicketkeeper Kiran More to sharpen both her batting and glovework.

The breakthrough finally arrived during India’s tour of Australia later that year, where she made her debut in all three international formats. She impressed immediately in the ODI series, scoring 64 in just her third match to help India chase down 265 and end Australia’s record 26-match winning streak. 

Yastika soon became an integral part of India’s white-ball setup. During the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, she adapted seamlessly after being asked to open the batting before returning to her preferred No. 3 position, where she responded with back-to-back half-centuries.

She was also a member of India’s silver medal-winning campaign at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and represented the country in both the ODI and T20 World Cups.

On July 23, 2026, Yastika Bhatia made history by becoming the first woman to score a Test century at Lord's Cricket Ground. Playing against England in the historic One-off Test at Lord’s. The 25-year-old scored a magnificent 113 off 158 balls, securing a permanent place on the iconic Lord's Honours Board.

Beyond international cricket, Yastika has become a vital member of the Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League, forming a successful opening partnership with Hayley Matthews and contributing to the franchise’s success with her consistency at the top of the order.
