SLWAbout Imesha Dulani
Imesha Dulani is part of Sri Lanka’s new batting crop, a young right-hander whose compact game and temperament have marked her as one to watch for the future.
Born on January 20, 2002, Dulani first came into the frame in 2021 when she was named in Sri Lanka’s squad for the Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. Though uncapped at the time, her inclusion reflected the promise she had shown at the domestic level. She was also picked as a reserve for the 2022 Commonwealth Games Qualifier in Malaysia and later travelled with the squad to Pakistan.
Her long-awaited debut came in April 2023 against Bangladesh, followed by her T20I bow later that year against New Zealand. While her international returns have been modest so far — 26 runs in four ODIs and limited opportunities in T20Is — selectors have continued to back her, keeping her involved in major series and squads.
For Sri Lanka, Dulani represents investment in the future: a technically correct middle-order batter still learning the demands of international cricket. With more exposure and experience, she has the potential to develop into the reliable anchor Sri Lanka have been searching for in their batting lineup.
