Manav Suthar

Manav Suthar is an emerging Indian bowling all-rounder known for his classical slow left-arm orthodox spin and dependable lower-order batting. Suthar has quickly risen through the domestic ranks to become one of India’s most promising young spinners, particularly in red-ball cricket.

With a reputation for flight, control, and sharp turn, he represents Rajasthan in domestic cricket and is part of the Gujarat Titans setup in the Indian Premier League as of 2026.

Manav Suthar’s Early Life and Background

Manav Suthar was born in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, a region not traditionally known for producing top-level cricketers. His journey began under modest circumstances, with his father, a physical education teacher, playing a crucial role in supporting his cricketing ambitions.

Interestingly, Suthar initially trained as a batter, as his father envisioned him becoming an attacking batsman. However, within days of joining a cricket academy, his coach identified his natural ability as a spinner and redirected his focus. This turning point shaped his entire career.

Manav Suthar’s Domestic Career

Manav Suthar made his first-class debut for Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy against Andhra in February 2022. He quickly established himself as a key bowler, gaining national attention during the 2022–23 season, where he emerged as Rajasthan’s leading wicket-taker with 39 wickets in just six matches.

One of his most remarkable performances came against Puducherry, where he delivered a complete all-round display by scoring an unbeaten 96 and picking up 11 wickets in the match. 

Suthar was also a part of the India A squad during the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. During the tournament, he was among the leading wicket-takers, finishing as the joint second-highest with 10 wickets. 

Manav Suthar’s IPL Career

Manav Suthar’s IPL journey reflects patience, learning, and gradual progression. He initially spent two seasons (2022 and 2023) with the Gujarat Titans as a net bowler, gaining valuable exposure to high-level cricket and working closely with experienced players.

His persistence paid off when he was officially signed by the Gujarat Titans in 2024 for his base price. He made his IPL debut that season, marking the beginning of his presence in the league.

Recognising his consistent domestic performances and potential, the Gujarat Titans re-signed him ahead of the 2026 season for INR 30 lakh. As he continues to develop, the IPL provides him with a crucial platform to transition from a domestic performer to a recognised name in franchise cricket.
