Bio

Sussex, along with Kent, is credited as being the origin of cricket. Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of England and Wales' domestic cricket structure's eighteen first-class county clubs. It represents Sussex, a historic county in England. The Sussex Sharks are the club's limited overs team. The club was created in 1839 as a successor to numerous Sussex county cricket teams, including the old Brighton Cricket Club, which had served as the county's representation since the 1720s. The club has always been classified as first-class. Sussex has competed in the County Championship since its inception in 1890, and has represented England in every top-level domestic cricket competition.

Galloways Accounting for the LV County Championship and Dafabet for Royal London One-Day Cup and Vitality Blast T20 matches are the club's customary blue and white jersey sponsors. The County Cricket Ground in Hove is its home ground. Arundel, Eastbourne, and Horsham are also venues for Sussex matches.

Sussex won the County Championship for the first time in 2003, and went on to become the dominant team of the decade, repeating the feat in 2006 and 2007. Sussex completed a 'double' in 2006, winning the C&G Trophy before winning the County Championship with an impressive victory against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, when Sussex overcame their hosts by an innings and 245 runs. Sussex continued their limited overs success in 2008 and 2009, winning the Pro40 twice and lifting the 2009 Twenty20 Cup after defeating Somerset at Edgbaston. The county on the south coast finished the decade with eight trophies. Sussex County Cricket Club (SCCC) and Sussex Cricket Board (SCB) combined on November 1, 2015, to form a new entity.
