Bio

Surrey County Cricket Club (Surrey CCC) is a first-class county cricket club in England and Wales, one of eighteen in the domestic cricket pyramid. It represents the historic county of Surrey, which includes parts of South London today. Teams representing the county have been documented since 1709; the current club was created in 1845 and has maintained first-class status ever since. Surrey has competed in every major domestic cricket tournament in England, including every County Championship (which began in 1890).

Surrey has had three key eras of exceptional prosperity throughout its history. During the 1850s, the club was unofficially crowned "Champion County" seven times; from 1887 to 1895, it won the title eight times in nine years (including the first recognised County Championship in 1890); and from 1952 to 1958, it won seven consecutive titles. Surrey won 23 of its 28 county matches in 1955, the most by any team in the County Championship and a record that has never been surpassed (as fewer than 23 matches have been played each season since 1993). Only Yorkshire has won the County Championship more times (19 times outright and once shared), with its most recent victory coming in 2018.

The club's traditional colour is chocolate brown, and players wear brown caps and helmets. The moniker 'Brown Caps' has been given to the team.
