Rajasthan Royals (RR) was one of the eight initial franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise is based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and the Sawai Mansingh Stadium serves as its home ground. RR is owned by a consortium led by the Mittal Family with a 75% majority stake, Adar Poonawalla holding 18%, and the original principal owner, Manoj Badale, retaining a 7% share.
The Double Rs were the inaugural champions of the IPL. The Shane Warne-led team defied all odds and went on to win the league with a squad full of young guns. They might not have won the title ever since, but RR is one of those franchises that has always given young guns opportunities and made superstars out of them.
Unfortunately, the Rajasthan-based franchise was banned from the lucrative league for two years (2016-17) in the aftermath of the 2013 betting scandal.
The Royals last made it to the IPL finals in the 2022 edition of the lucrative league with Sanju Samson at the helm.
Ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction, the Rajasthan Royals made bold calls, letting go of their former captain, Sanju Samson. Later, they named Riyan Parag as captain ahead of the season.
The 2026 season was defined by historic individual performances, most notably those of the teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. However, their journey ended when they were beaten by the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.
