5:47 PM IST: This has been a thrashing from Bangladesh as they have swept Ireland aside by 10 wickets with 36.5 overs to spare. This is their first-ever 10-wicket win by Bangladesh against any side. They have outplayed the Irish in all the facets of the game and if not for the rain in the second ODI, this series would have been 3-0. So, Bangladesh wins this series 2-0.
Chasing a paltry target of 102 to make it 2-0, Bangladesh came out all guns blazing courtesy of their openers Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das. The skipper was the aggressor of the two initially as he took the attack to the opposition and did not give Ireland an inch. Litton took his time and then was the aggressor of the two as he finished with yet another half century. He remained unbeaten on 50* off 38 balls while the skipper was unbeaten on 41* off 41 balls. They got to the victory target in just 13.1 overs.
Nothing much to talk about for Ireland. They had a very low score to defend and all their bowlers were taken to the cleaners. They looked ineffective to say the least. They tried too hard and bowled the wrong lines and lengths and one cannot blame them after getting only 101 on the board.
Earlier in the game, Ireland shockingly decided to bat first after winning the toss and things went downhill from there against the Bangladeshi seamers who were superb with the ball. They lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Lorcan Tucker and Curtis Campher fought for them. Tucker scored 28 while Campher top scored with 36. The rest of them had single digits and were completely blown away. They folded for 28.1 overs for 101.
All the 10 wickets were taken by the Bangladeshi seamers. Hasan Mahmud was the pick of them as he started it and finished it off with 5/32 in 8.1 overs. He was ably supported by Taskin Ahmed who got 3 wickets for 26 runs in his 10 overs. Ebadot Hossain got a couple of wickets for 29 runs in 6 overs. The spinners bowled only 4 bowlers with Shakib Al Hasan not even bowling a single over. It was a day for the Bangladeshi seamers in Sylhet.
So, a clinical performance by Bangladesh as they win this game by 10 wickets with plenty to spare to take out the series 2-0. Stick around for the post-match presentations.
