Pakistan won an important toss after the play was delayed due to some rain across Central London all morning. Ben Duckett and Emilio Gay milked a few boundaries early on to get things rolling. However, Mohammad Abbas found voice soon as he strangled Gay down the leg side for 8 as Rizwan took a stunner to his right. He soon trapped Duckett in front for 17. It was not given out on the field, but Pakistan were bold enough to review and turn the decision in their favour.
Joe Root got a life early on after he was dropped on 1 at third slip by Imam-ul-Haq off the bowling of Mohammad Ali. However, that did not cost Pakistan much as Abbas trapped the English skipper in front on 4 in the very next over as Pakistan applied the 'keeper up to the stumps' move.
