Player of the Match: Tim Seifert
Tim Seifert (POTM): "[On the 100] Very pleased. Look, the most important thing is we got the win tonight against a very good team. And it probably wasn't the best of starts for us the first five games, but we said to ourselves, forget about that and focus about the next five, and we're two from two. It's a great night, and to come here and win, it's a huge confidence from the boys.

[What pleased him most about his batting?] I think it's just changing through gears throughout. We thought that pace was going to be the easier of the two, so we look to attack the pace, and just fighting our way against the quality spin that they have.

[On the fast starts] I think now T20 cricket, you look to get off to a good start, no matter if you're setting or you're chasing. I think opening doesn't really change. I think it's what you do out of the powerplay is where you win the games.

[Any mixed feelings facing the Knight Riders, his former team?] Look, it's always good to win here, whether you're a Knight Rider or not."

Nicholas Pooran (Trinbago Knight Riders Captain): "[On the result] I think we started off pretty well in the powerplay, in all honesty. We have been struggling as a bowling group in the last couple of games, and there’s no secret about it. For us personally, it’s all about just trying to figure it out and put the pieces together, build that partnership, try to restrict teams as much as we can. Sometimes the overs just go too big, and that’s the difficult thing in T20 cricket. For us, it’s just about figuring it out. Again, T20 cricket is very contagious, right? Winning and losing. Obviously, we’re losing games now, and we’re finding ways to lose games, but it’s fine. Again, we just need to get some momentum.

[On the bowling issues in the side this season] I mean, it’s CPL. Obviously, every team has local players and young players, and we have to be the ones to guide them and help them in situations. That’s how they’re going to grow and learn from it. The opportunity is there in CPL, and it’s difficult. There’s a lot of quality international players and local players in this tournament, and they’re going to be challenged and tested in different ways, and we have to be there for them. We’re not expecting anything to be perfect. We know how difficult this game is, and at the moment it’s all about guiding them and being there for them and trying to teach them and help them when they make mistakes.

[On the chase] I mean, we’re chasing 212. Obviously, that’s a good total. I think we were right in the game after the powerplay there, being 70 without loss, and then obviously Roston got three wickets in that over there, the game obviously swung in their direction really fast. But that’s how the game goes. Those have been the moments in the game, and unfortunately today we lost that winning moment. I felt like if that over didn’t happen, we had a better chance of winning the game. But in saying that, well played to St Lucia. They outplayed us today.

[On bouncing back next time around] Yeah, we’ve been in this position before. The storm is going to end, and we’re going to be ready for when that storm ends. We’ve been in this position as a group before. We have a lot of characters in that dressing room, a lot of experienced players. We know for a fact that we’re going to put our heads together and figure it out. And we know once we win that one game, things are going to change. We don’t become a bad team overnight just because we lose a couple games. We’re going to be here. We’re here in our home venue. The fans are coming to support us, and this T20 game changes really fast, right?"
Roston Chase (St Lucia Kings Captain): "[On how proud is he of the effort] I’m very proud. I never like to really rely on the toss because I find that puts the team in a bad space morally. So, I just like to, whatever we have to do, just do it well, and then once we do that well, it makes whatever we do second a bit easier.

[On Tim Seifert] Yeah, we missed him dearly, and I’m glad he’s here. That was a brilliant knock. I think the way he starts and puts good bowlers under pressure, I think that’s really the key for us in terms of throwing off their team with their better bowlers. Then it makes it hard for them to know who to go to. So, I think that’s what makes him special.

[On his three-wicket over] Yeah, I found that the wicket was just holding once you bowled the ball into the wicket, not too floaty, but just try to bowl it into the wicket and just try to get that. I’m tall, so I try to get that bounce, and I try to spin it hard, although it wasn’t really spinning, and I thought that the ball held in the wicket a bit for me, so that was key.

[On Matthew Forde] Yeah, we knew that these guys were going to come hard because we had a good total on the board. So, we knew that they would come hard in the powerplay, looking to get a good start to carry that momentum into the middle overs. So, I told him, 'Don’t worry about it, take the cricket. Once we can maintain them into a decent run rate, cricket starts after the powerplay.'

[On maintaining the momentum] Well, a win against Trinidad in Trinidad gives the team a very big confidence boost. So, we’ll be on a high, but we still need to stick to our basics, and when we get our meetings and stuff and make our plans, it’s just for the guys to come out and execute them. And I don’t like my guys to feel any pressure, especially against bigger names and those guys. I just want us to play the cricket, don’t play any names, and just try to execute the plans that we come up with in the meetings to the best of their ability."
Most Runs in T20 Cricket:

14,921- Kieron Pollard*

14,890- Jos Buttler

14,562- Chris Gayle
The St Lucia Kings fly to the top of the table with that win. Now they have made it 2 wins in the last 2 games. This one here in Trinidad will always be special. As for the Knight Riders, their home leg has started on a poor note, and it is important for them to draw on the heavy experience they have in the team so that they can bounce back strongly.
