Hailing from Karachi, Saim Ayub is a promising talent for Pakistan. Ayub burst onto the T20 scene in February 2021, when he represented Quetta Gladiators in the PSL.

Ayub’s cricketing prowess wasn't confined to the PSL; he made a significant impact in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023, playing a pivotal role in the Amazon Warriors' title victory with a stellar performance in the final.

Saim Ayub T20I Career

In March 2023, Saim Ayub's stellar performances earned him a spot in the Pakistan T20 squad for the series against Afghanistan. Making his international debut on March 24, 2023, he added another chapter to his growing cricket career.

Only a year after stepping into the international stage, Ayub was named in Pakistan's squad for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Later the same year, Ayub scored an unbeaten 98 in the second T20I, narrowly missing a maiden T20I century.

Ayub entered the 2025 Asia Cup with high expectations; however endured a poor run with the bat, including three consecutive ducks. Nonetheless, he impressed excessively with his off-spin. Following the tournament, he became the ICC's No. 1-ranked all-rounder in men's T20Is.

Saim Ayub Test Career

Saim Ayub amassed a staggering 1069 runs in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24 (Pakistan’s domestic first-class competition). His scintillating performance in the final (203 & 109) caught the attention of the selectors, earning him a maiden Test call-up against Australia.

Saim Ayub made his Test debut for Pakistan against Australia on January 3, 2024, in the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Later that year, during the three-match Test series, he achieved his highest Test score of 77 at home.

Unfortunately, in January 2025, Ayub sustained an ankle injury during the second Test in Cape Town, which ended his tour of South Africa prematurely.

Saim Ayub ODI Career

Saim Ayub made his ODI debut against Australia in Melbourne on 4 November 2024. In his very second ODI, 82 off 71 balls to help Pakistan to a commanding win and eventually helping them win the series 2-1.

Ayub’s maiden ODI ton came on just 53 balls, the second-fastest by a Pakistani. The lefty batter achieved the feat against Zimbabwe in 2024 at Bulawayo.

Notably, Ayub, in his ODI debut year, achieved the rare feat of scoring back-to-back ODI centuries during Pakistan's 2024 tour of South Africa. His record centuries helped Pakistan seal the first-ever ODI whitewash in South Africa.

However, the series also saw Ayub sustain an untimely injury, forcing him to miss the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
